| Although I had been to Smokemont campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park numberless times, I had never seen this old church, tucked away down a little side road. I first went there to photograph and write about a Sunday morning service for the How we Worship series I've been doing for the newspaper, I knew I had to go back and make a large format photo for this series. Suzi and I rode over there late one cloudy afternoon to try it. I had in my mind a photo that would have the church glowing in the midst of dark woods. Even so late in the day, the sky behind the church was a bit of a challenge, but I think it worked out, and has the feel I was after. Indicated exposure was 15 minutes at f/22, so I was headed for 30 to allow for reciprocity failure, but cut it off at 23 minutes when it started raining. We walked through the frame twice, exploring the church, during the exposure. |
| As most people seem to prefer them, prices are for framed prints, ready to hang. I use a very nice matt black wood frame 7/8 of an inch wide, with a white mat. If you would like to order unframed prints, go to the "Purchase" page for pricing. |
