| Point Lobos State Preserve just outside Carmel, CA, is a place like Yosemite, where you almost expect to see holes worn in the earth from the repeated placement of tripods. Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and countless other photographers have wandered the trails here, listening to the surf and the sea lions, and waiting for the moment when seeing becomes vision, that moment when great photographs are possible. As I walked along the Cypress Grove Trail, I was struck by this curve of cypress trunk, leading my eye to the surf beyond. An added bonus - there's a bench just next to the tree, so you can sit down and compose the low-angle view without knee strain. I'll take it every time. This photo has a sort of melancholy feel to me, but maybe I'm just remembering the feeling of the place. |

| As most people seem to prefer them, prices are for framed prints, ready to hang. I use a very nice matt black wood frame 7/8 of an inch wide, with a white mat. If you would like to order unframed prints, go to the "Purchase" page for pricing. |
