Churches

This series of photos grew out of, or
rather, developed parallel to, a series
of stories and photos I've been
doing on my day job as a
photojournalist at the Citizen-Times.
 I find the little country church a
fascinating link to our past here in
the mountains.  Often these
churches are able to make me feel
like I can touch a little bit of the past,
and participate in a small way in the
lives of the people who once
worshipped here, and sometimes
still do.  I've tried to put the churches
in context, showing them as a
complementary part of their
surroundings.  I hope they're able to
touch you in the same way they
touch me.
